Special Ed Mentors Brooklyn Youth In Hip-Hop & STEAM With Hip-Hop Education Center

Special Ed is stepping into the mentor role for a new workforce development program that’s merging Hip-Hop culture with STEAM education in Brooklyn. The Hip-Hop Education Center and National Grid are launching Power the Future, an 11-month fellowship that trains young adults in MCing, beatmaking, and filmmaking while building real skills in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Nine fellows from across Brooklyn will start the program this month, each receiving a Power Up Backpack loaded with an iPad Pro, headphones, a microphone, and Wi-Fi access.
