Hip-hop albums that started conversations about addiction before anyone else

If you’re a music fan, you probably know of artists who use their talents to bring up issues people don’t like to discuss openly. Hip-hop albums like DS2 by Future and The Diary by Scarface started the conversation about addiction in many spaces. According to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics, around 54.2 million people 12 years and older needed substance abuse treatment in 2023.
